Beyond its title sponsorship of the TCS New York City Marathon, TCS is the creator of the race’s official app, available in both the Apple and Google Play stores. In the fifth year of our partnership, we continued to collaborate with New York Road Runners to make the TCS New York City Marathon the most technologically advanced and socially engaged marathon experience for runners, fans and families alike. In short, an experience that will be a memory forever.
The 2018 TCS New York City Marathon app provided even more exciting, race-specific features. Year-over-year growth can be attributed to the apps many innovations and enhancements that enable runners and their support community to keep track of the event:
The 2018 TCS New York City Marathon App was downloaded a record 437,609 times (most ever for the TCS NYC Marathon or any other marathon), up 24% from 334,000 downloads in 2017.
The iOS version of the app ranked #1 among top free sports, and for the second year in a row, the iOS version of the app ranked #1 among free apps in the App Store on race day.
The average session duration on the app was 15:10, a 6.7% increase and nearly one minute longer than 2017.
