TCS Financial Solutions implemented the core banking solution from TCS BaNCS that enabled AmBank to offer 24/7 service availability, superior functionality and a seamless experience for its staff and customers.

The Customer

The AmBank Group is one of Malaysia’s premier financial services groups with leadership positions in the retail, commercial and investment banking, and insurance sectors. The group provides banking and financial services which include loans, advances and financing, deposit services, credit cards, remittance services, foreign exchange and Islamic banking services.

Business Scenario

AmBank’s two legacy core banking systems were not flexible to allow product bundling and did not support 24/7 availability. The legacy core systems, and the 90 peripheral systems that AmBank had, were not conducive to business growth. AmBank needed a technology partner who would help them grow, realize their business vision, offer superior functionality and a seamless experience for staff and customers.

TCS’ Solution

TCS BaNCS and AmBank embarked on the core transformation project entitled “AmHorizon” with a strong, dedicated and cohesive team who imbibed best practices from the industry to ensure a successful implementation.

The core banking solution from TCS BaNCS was implemented and internally rebranded as “AmBaNCS” (acronym for AmBank Core Banking System). The solution was implemented using the “big bang” approach, which affected more than 5000 users, including 179 branches, head office departments and regional business centers.
