About Barcelona

Few European cities offer you the wide diversity of cultural experiences that you’ll find in Barcelona, making it one of Europe’s top city break destinations. It is the 10th-most-visited city in the world, and the third most visited in Europe, after London and Paris, receiving several million tourists every year.

Barcelona is a popular tourist destination- famous for its Ramblas, long beaches, exciting architecture, historical monuments, including eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Catalan culture, and cosmopolitan way of life.

Historically, Barcelona has nurtured a strong tradition of sports – the city has hosted several matches during the 1982 FIFA World Cup and the highly successful 1992 Summer Olympics. Ranked as one of the largest and the second richest football club in the world, FC Barcelona’s football team is known worldwide.

Barcelona experiences a Mediterranean climate, with mild, humid winters and warm, dry summers. The average daily temperatures in October usually range from 18.4°C (65.1°F) to 22.7°C (72.9°F). Occasional showers can be expected at this time of the year.

Barcelona is located in Catalonia. Therefore, whilst Spanish is widely spoke, the national language in Barcelona is Catalan.

Spain is a member of the European Union, therefore the local currency is the Euro.
