Two-thirds of young European jobseekers who have used social media to find a new job opportunity found it useful (66%), and 43% of European students feel that social media has improved their prospects of finding a job post-education. Our survey found that young people are, in essence, reaching out to their online peer network in a digital ‘word-of-mouth’ campaign. Generation Direct are successfully using social media to circumnavigate traditional employment processes, accessing work opportunities directly and helping to tackle the unemployment challenge in Europe.
