Community Initiatives in Australia and New Zealand

“In a free enterprise, the community is not just another stakeholder in business, but is in fact the very purpose of its existence.”

Jamsetji Tata
Founder of the Tata Group, 1868

At Tata Consultancy Services, we believe in making a positive impact on the community by using technology to innovate solutions, ensuring our business is environmentally and socially responsible, and encouraging our people to volunteer in the community.

In Australia and New Zealand, our Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives are focused on addressing local challenges. The issues we choose to focus our impact on are education, health, environmental sustainability and cross cultural understanding.

We make an impact in the following ways:

  • Pro-bono program using technology and core business to empower communities and create social impact
  • Community volunteering involving our people and their families
  • Philanthropic support for charities
  • Sustainable business operations
  • Partnerships with our clients on CSR activities

Empowering our community through education

Tata Consultancy Services focuses on our empowering communities through education worldwide. In Australia we also choose to focus our Corporate Social Responsibility efforts in this important area. Australia has a shortfall of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) professionals. We believe this shortfall of professionals is a national priority and we are keen to play our part in solving this challenge.

Tata Consultancy Services STEM Education Program aims to:

  • Increase the number of students studying STEM
  • Inspire more women to study STEM subjects to increase the gender diversity in the IT industry.

Empowering the health and wellbeing of our community

Supporting hospitals, medical research and health technologies globally enables Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to contribute to improving health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.

TCS’ partnership with the Royal Hospital for Women, Sydney is multi-faceted and includes support for their annual fundraising dinner. Our people regularly volunteer and fundraise for a wide variety of health organisations nation-wide.

At Tata Consultancy Services we believe that by putting our core business to use through our pro bono program we can have an incredible impact. We are empowering those organisations to do what they do best – caring for the health and wellbeing of our community.

Environmental sustainability

Tata Consultancy Services is committed to caring for our environment and our future. Globally, our people pro-actively participate in community activities and initiatives that contribute to maintaining the environment in which we live, in a sustainable way.

In Australia our partnership with Clean Up Australia Day commenced in 2015 as a sponsor of this annual event. Our people and family members, have joined ½ million Australians on this nation-wide community undertaking.

Tata Consultancy Services has partnered with Conservation Volunteers Australia to provide volunteering opportunities in bush regeneration and habitat protection nation-wide.
